Jive Desktop

Jive Desktop transforms your computer into a unified communications interface. With easy directory access, you can visually verify who is available and initiate a new call or chat session with a contact. When your phone rings, the app automatically searches and matches the caller to your CRM (customer relationship management) contacts, allowing you to launch their account information with one click.

Setup Required

Before you can use Jive Desktop, you must have a registered JiveID and at least one device assigned to you by a system admin.

Get Started

Install App

1. Click here to go to the Chrome Web Store.

2. Click [+ ADD TO CHROME].

3. Click [Add app].

Note: After adding Jive Desktop to your Chrome Apps, a new window will appear prompting you to sign in with your Email Address (JiveID) and Password.

Tip: Click [Sign in with Google] or [Sign in with Microsoft] to log in with single sign-on (SSO). For this to work, your JiveID must match your Google or Office 365 email address respectively (contact a system admin for assistance). 

Launch App

1. Open Chrome.

2. Make sure you have the bookmarks bar turned on (View > Bookmarks > Always Show Bookmarks Bar).

3. In the bookmarks bar, click Apps.

Note: If the Apps shortcut is not visible, right click on the bookmarks bar and click Show Apps Shortcut.

4. Click the Jive Desktop app.


Click to Call

Jive Desktop does not work like a softphone. When you initiate a call from the app, it first sends the call to your Jive phone, waits for you to pick it up, and then finally completes the call to the outbound number.


Click  in the upper-right corner to view app options.

Search or Dial

Enter a contact’s name to search your contact list.

Enter an internal extension or 10 digit external number (no hyphens) and then press ENTER on your keyboard to initiate a call to your line.

Recent Messages

Displays the most recent message conversations. Click a conversation to view and reply to messages.

Other Contacts

Displays your contact list. Click a contact to view contact details, initiate a call to your line, or to send a message.

Adds a contact to your favorites. Yellow stars indicate the contact is a favorite.

Opens the messages window.

Creates a new contact.


To access the app settings, click  in the upper-right corner and then select Settings.

Goes back to the home window.

Line Selector

Defines which line/device is used for click to call and Redtail CRM integration.


Integrates Jive Desktop with Redtail CRM allowing you to search incoming callers within Redtail CRM via the app.

Note: Verified displays in green if Jive Desktop has been properly linked to Redtail CRM.

Log Call as a
Defines how call notes are recorded.

Log Out
Unlinks Redtail CRM from Jive Desktop.

Show Favorites Sidebar

Shows/hides the favorites window.

Notifications Configuration

Enables/disables sound notifications for incoming messages. Click the drop-down arrow to select your desired notification sound.


Logs out of Jive Desktop.

Messages (SMS/Chat)

SMS is in PRIVATE BETA. Please email to request early access. After which, a system admin must enable SMS for your phone number.

Note: SMS/Chat messages cannot be deleted.

Displays contact details.

Adds the contact to your favorites. Yellow stars indicate the contact is a favorite.

Initiates a call with the contact to your line.

Recent Messages

Displays all messages to and from the contact.

Enter Message

Type a new message and then press ENTER on your keyboard to send a new message.

Contact Details

Opens the messages window.

Adds the contact to your favorites.

Initiates a call with the contact to your line.

Contact Information

Displays the contact information and address.


Deletes the contact from the Jive Desktop.

Note: Only contacts added within Jive Desktop can be deleted.


Closes the window.

Favorites Sidebar

To access the Favorites Sidebar, tap  in the upper-right corner, select Settings and then enable Show Favorites Sidebar.


Displays all your favorite contacts.

To add a contact to your favorites, click the star icon next to their name.

Hover Options

Initiates a call with the contact to your line.

Opens the messages window.

Presence Monitoring

Allows you to visually monitor your contacts to know whether or not they are on an active call.

  • Red: Unavailable
  • Green: Available

Note: Presence Monitoring is available during a conference call and call forwarding.
