Jitsi

Jive is no longer distributing new licenses for Jive Mobility and the following new products are now recommended:

Jitsi is a free third-party desktop softphone that customers can use while Jive Desktop and Jive Web are in beta.

Get Started

Before you can setup Jitsi

1. Verify a device profile has been created (hardware settings are not required).

2. Contact Customer Support to obtain:

  • SIP Credentials (Username and Password)
  • Proxy Address

Install App

1. Click here to download Jitsi.

2. Open and run jitsi-latest.dmg.

3. Drag the Jitsi icon to the Applications folder.

Setup Softphone

1. From your Applications folder, open Jitsi.

Note: Because the application was downloaded from the internet, you may be prompted to confirm this action—click [Open] if this warning appears. 

2. Sign in with SIP credentials using the Username (followed by @reg.jiveip.net) and Password given to you by Customer Support.

3. Go to  Jitsi > Preferences > Accounts.

4. Select your SIP account and then click Edit.

5. From the Connection tab > Proxy Options section, define the following settings:

Configure proxy automatically

Unchecked

Proxy

Proxy address is given to you by Customer Support.

Port

5060

Preferred transport

UDP

6. Click [Next] > [Sign in].

Matching Contacts

As you enter an extension or number, contacts that match your entry will appear below.

Initiates a voice call with the entered contact.

Deletes the entry.

User Icons

Message
Not supported.

Voice Call
Initiates a voice call with the entered contact.

Video Call
Activates the camera and initiates a video call with the entered extension.

Note: Video is only supported between two Jitsi users on the same system.

Screenshare
Not supported.

Displays a complete call log and voicemails for the line. Click an entry to dial the extension/number.

Creates a new contact.

Initiates a voice call with the contact.

Displays the dialable keypad to make an outbound call.

Presence Buttons

Not supported.

Incoming Call

Caller ID

Displays the caller’s name and phone number.

Answers the incoming call.

Declines the incoming call and sends it to voicemail.

In-Call Features

Displays/Hides the dialable keypad.

Places the current call on hold momentarily and adds another active call (three-way conferencing).

Puts the call on hold.

Toggles call recording on/off.

Note: Recordings are stored in Downloads.

Transfers the call to a third party, the original call is ended, and no confirmation is made to determine whether the transferred call is answered or if the number is busy (blind transfer).

Not supported.

Enters full screen mode.

Activates the camera and initiates a video call.

Note: Video is only supported between two Jitsi users.

Displays technical information for the active call.

Ends the call.

Opens a window to setup a conference call with multiple contacts.

Create a video bridge

Not supported.

Auto Answer and Call Forward

Set up auto answer, call forwarding, and video call settings.

Account Info

Displays connection info for the registered line.

Connection Info

Displays account info for the registered line.

Hide offline contacts

Hides contacts that are offline.

Turn sound off

Mutes inbound call notifications.

Get Started

Install App

1. Click here to download Jitsi.

2. Open the run jitsi-latest-x86.exe.

3. Follow the installation wizard, then click Finish.

Setup Softphone

Before you can setup Jitsi

1. From your Start Menu, open Jitsi.

2. Sign in with SIP credentials using the Username (followed by @reg.jiveip.net) and Password given to you by Customer Support.
