There are two buttons used to add a new user to the system—[WIZARD] and [ADD USER]. With the wizard, you’ll create a user, line, and device at the same time and link those resources together—perfect for setting up a new employee on your phone system. If you’re not looking for the complete package, the add user button creates a stand-alone user only. This is best for someone like an IT consultant who would need access to the admin portal but does not require a device or line.

Creates a user, line, and device at the same time and links the resources together. The wizard is broken into four sections and only asks for the most common information before creating all three entities.

This action creates a new billable device.

1. Click Users in the left sidebar.

2. Click [WIZARD].

3. Enter the user’s User Settings; First Name, Last Name (required), and Email Address.

4. Set up the user’s Line Settings.

Extension Number

Three to six digit number that identifies the line and makes it dialable.

Name

Name by which the line is identified. This does not affect the caller ID.

Omit From Directory

Removes the line from all dial by name directories.

Note: This setting only omits the extension from your dial by name directories. It does not omit the extension from directories found in the end user portal, Jive Mobile, etc. or prevent the extension from being dialed from an auto attendant (allow extension dialing).

Omit From Auto Attendant Extension Dialing

Removes the line from auto attendant extension dialing.

Note: This setting only omits the extension from being dialed within an auto attendant. It does not omit the extension from directories found in the end user portal, Jive Mobile, etc. or prevent the extension from being searched within a dial by name directory.

5. Set up the user’s Hardware Settings.

Use Existing

Links the device to previously created hardware.

Create New

Create a new device to link to the new user.

MAC Address – Physical MAC address of the device.

Model – Model of the device. This will be automatically set up on provisioning and is therefore optional for all phones except the Cisco 79xx series and Cyberdata paging devices.

6. Set up the user’s Device Settings.

Presence Aware

Enables the device to monitor the presence/status of other lines on the system.

Name

Defines how the device is listed within the admin portal.

Display Name

Defines what is displayed on the device (certain models only).

7. Click [OK].

Creates a standalone user that solely grants portal access (no line/device assignments).

1. Click Users in the left sidebar.

2. Click [ADD USER].

3. Enter the user’s Last Name, First Name, and Email.

4. Click the checkmark icon.

5. Click the new user to edit its settings.
