Auto attendants can be set up to allow a caller to immediately dial their party’s extension and bypass the menu options. However, this means that the caller can dial any extension on your system, even those you would prefer remain private (i.e. virtual fax machine, an executive conference bridge, your CEO’s line). Callers can be prevented from reaching these extensions by enabling the following setting.

Note: This setting only omits the extension from being dialed within an auto attendant. It does not omit the extension from directories found in the end user portal, Jive Mobile, etc. or prevent the extension from being searched within a dial by name directory.

1. Click Extensions Overview in the left sidebar.

2. Select the extension that needs to be omitted from auto attendant dialing.

3. From the General tab > Extensions section, select Omit from Auto Attendant Extension Dialing.

Tip: To exclude the extension from being searched within a dial by name directory as well, enable Omit from Directory.

4. Click [SAVE].
