Big Wins: America’s Rising Interest in the World Cup and the Cloud
At Jive we know a thing or two about winning. Although we’re one of the younger players in the game, we’ve been known to go up against the big guys and come out on top—that, among other reasons, is why we’re rooting for the U.S. in this year’s World Cup. According to the New York Times, the US team has a 78% chance of advancing to the next round of the World Cup. The U.S. has a few options in advancing to the next round: 1) if they beat Germany in the game on June 26; 2) if they tie Germany on June 26; or 3) if Portugal and Ghana tie their next game. Even with the U.S.-Portugal tie that happened on Sunday night, the chances that the U.S. will move on are looking pretty good so far.
Although we won’t pretend to be soccer experts, we’ve noticed that there are some parallels between America’s rising interest in the World Cup and it’s rising interest in Hosted VoIP from the Cloud.
1. The Hype:
Between 1950 and 1990, the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team didn’t even qualify for the World Cup, so it makes sense that, during that time, the World Cup didn’t mean much to most Americans. But in recent years, the World Cup has drawn much more attention than it did in the early 90s. This year, it seems the World Cup is all anybody’s talking about. So whether or not you’re actually interested in the games, you’re bound to hear names like Clint Dempsey and Lionel Messi bouncing around in casual conversation.
Cloud-based software, and even specifically hosted Unified Communications, has received similar hype in the 21st century. Where companies were once required to provide massive storage spaces full of cords and servers just to get their phone extensions to work, hosted UC provides a clean, easy, space-saving, affordable solution with the Cloud. Jive Cloud offers a robust feature list that is compatible with both office phones and mobile phones. The hype surrounding Jive Cloud is much like the hype around the World Cup: well-deserved.
2. International Connections:
One of the most exciting parts of the World Cup is the cultural exchange that happens across national and continental borders. Players, coaches, and fans from all over the world gather in one location to celebrate and compete. Like the Olympics, the World Cup is an opportunity for people across the world to connect and learn more about cultures outside their own.
Jive is also interested in helping people connect internationally. In addition to a datacenter in the U.K., Jive currently has clients in countries around the globe including China, Korea, Israel, Ireland, Mexico, and many more. Because Jive has developed such a reliable, customizable, and economical solution for Unified Communications, there’s great potential for the impact Jive could have on global communication. Like the World Cup, Jive’s services enable a cultural exchange that can cross all boundaries.
3. A Drive to Win:
The World Cup is about more than just connecting with other cultures, though—it’s also about winning. Money, time, sweat, and tears go into each win, bringing the country great pride when the outcome is successful. But even though there are key players who score goals or defend the goal line, it requires a complete team effort for any team to win. At every spot on the field, there is a team member contributing to the game’s outcome, and on the sidelines there are coaches, managers, substitutes, and fans whose contributions matter as well.
Jive’s wins also depend on team effort. At every level of Jive is a team strategically working together to deliver the best hosted UC available. From our Customer Care department to our software developers, Jive uses the talents and skills of all employees in order to deliver a dependable, successful UC solution. Just like a win in the World Cup depends on success at every level, Jive values the success of each of its departments and knows that these successes affect the overall success of the company. Jive’s wins belong to everybody on the Jive team.
Keep Your Team Enthusiasm Alive:
As we all know, the World Cup will end soon, one team will take the title, and we will wait until the next World Cup to overuse our cable, eat too many snacks, wear soccer jerseys in the workplace, and lose our voices cheering for our national teams. But that doesn’t mean you need to put your enthusiasm for teamwork to rest—Jive certainly isn’t. Call a Jive representative today to find out how successful teamwork from a hosted UC provider can help your business score.
