The Spirit of Awesomeness is alive and well at Jive Dev! Yesterday, twenty of our intrepid team members gathered to kick off planning for Jive’s Google I/O 2015 Extended event. In roughly 20 days, we will be kicking open the doors to bring in our peers and associates from throughout the local IT community to share in this exciting experience – and best of all, it’s ALL FREE, my friends! Riding the coattails of our recent success with an extended version of the popular ng-conf in early March, we decided to again bring a slice of the excitement home. On Thursday and Friday, […]
April is a special month for employees at Jive as it marks the time for the annual company retreat. This year about 270 Jivers descended on Las Vegas for a weekend of general mayhem. The creative team decided to take this opportunity to deck out our fellow Jivers in vegas-themed swag. In addition to hats and shirts featuring the Jive Jeep, we gave out temporary Jive tattoos, playing cards, and money clips stuffed with dollar bills. Of course, once we were finished with the swag we couldn’t stop there. With the help of the executive team we organized a bowling […]
Jive Communications is not only solidifying itself in the telecommunications marketplace, but it’s also making its mark on American pop culture. When West Coast Customs’ new season airs this fall, Jive will be featured on one of its episodes to reveal our newest team member—the Jive Jeep.
For the past several months, Jive employees have been teaming up with United Way to provide tutoring to students at Pony Express Elementary. While Jive provides Hosted VoIP service to many schools throughout the nation, Jive is also committed to helping students within the community. Many of Jive’s employees consider children and their education to be among the top priorities in our society today.
“Corporate culture” is a phrase that gets tossed around quite a bit nowadays, and with good reason. Studies, like the one performed by Professor Charles O’Reilly and his team at Stanford, show that companies walk a thin line between creating a strong internal culture and promoting financial growth, since these two goals are often at odds. However, they also found that companies can achieve both goals—provided that they remain adaptable and pay attention to their employees’ unique strengths and ideas. As noted in the article linked above, “[Their] research found the most powerful corporate cultures embrace ‘nonuniform behaviors and adaptability in particular.’”
We celebrate innovation here at Jive. Last weekend, two members of our Dev team, Jonathan Aaron and Jordan Davidson, won first place at Startup Weekend Ogden, a regional branch of a worldwide tech entrepreneurship competition. We love having top talent with us and want to recognize them for their big win! Startup Weekend is a worldwide organization dedicated to bringing talent together and challenging them to launch a startup in 54 hours. The weekend begins by hearing startup ideas from every participant. People then vote on the best ideas, then choose which team they would like to participate with. Every […]
Over the past two years, Jive Communications has worked with the United Way’s Sub for Santa program to give a merry Christmas to hundreds of children throughout Utah County (the place our company calls home). Clothes, toys, books, and other items are the most commonly requested donations.
The Utah Valley area is a growing, exciting place to be. There’s always something novel to get caught up in–concerts, hiking, camping, theatre, museums, and unique days like Passport to Provo. A few weeks ago, some of the Jive marketing team (affectionately known as Marketeers) participated in Provo City’s attempt to break a world record.
It’s hard to escape at least some exposure to the phenomenon that is sweeping the world one ice-filled bucket at a time. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has taken over a substantial piece of real estate in social media, news outlets, and late night talk shows. At this rate, it’s likely that every publicly recognizable figure will participate—if they haven’t already—in this challenge before we hit Labor Day.
At Jive we know a thing or two about winning. Although we’re one of the younger players in the game, we’ve been known to go up against the big guys and come out on top—that, among other reasons, is why we’re rooting for the U.S. in this year’s World Cup.
